1040.com Donates $172,836 to Healing Waters International
Franklin, NC (PRWEB) May 25, 2016 -- This past tax filing season, 1040.com, the do-it-yourself online tax filing service, partnered with Healing Waters International (HWI) to launch their Give Back campaign: raising $172,836 for safe drinking water projects and health and hygiene education in developing countries.
1040.com donated $2 to HWI for every 2015 tax return filed by customers, including free returns. “1040.com didn’t charge customers extra to donate,” said James Stork, Senior Vice President of 1040.com. “Every time someone filed using 1040.com, we donated $2 – no strings attached.”
“We’re thrilled that our partnership with 1040.com was so successful,” said Kayla Fruchtman, Director of Development and Marketing for HWI. “There are 1.8 billion people who do not have access to clean water, and this gift from 1040.com will help us provide sustainable solutions for these communities. This donation alone can provide more than a year’s worth of clean water for 14,205 people who desperately need it.”
Healing Waters International (HWI), based in Golden, Colorado, has worked with over 170 communities around the world – developing affordable, state-of-the-art water filtration systems that transform dirty water into safe water. Taking a holistic approach, they work in partnership with the local community; local leaders are trained in business skills, safe water systems operations and maintenance, and health and hygiene curricula.
“The work that Healing Waters International does is crucial to combatting waterborne and sanitation-related illnesses in developing countries, and we’re honored to have played a part in building awareness of the problems that they address every single day,” Stork stated.
