The National Safety Council, Nebraska announces a new partnership with the University of Nebraska at Omaha to offer the Certificate in Safety Leadership program. The new certificate program will focus on building strong leaders, reducing risk, best practices, and performance measurements in the safety and health field.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with the University of Nebraska at Omaha and the Nebraska Business Development Center to offer the Certificate in Safety Leadership,” said Beverly Reicks, President and CEO, National Safety Council, Nebraska. “A safety leader is not just someone whose title includes the word safety. A leader influences behavior – a safety leader has a visible commitment to each employee’s safety. This new partnership and the expansion of our safety consultant team, represents our commitment to deliver the highest level of education and safety services across Nebraska.”

The program consists of nine days of interactive learning and sharing over nine months. It is recommended for safety professionals from all industries wanting to improve their leadership skills, employees involved in safety interested in furthering their safety credentials, and safety veterans wanting to improve their influence and persuasion skills.

“We believe safety is paramount in every business. We all know that safety is no accident; that effective leadership is crucial to safe practices. Our partnership with the National Safety Council, Nebraska recognizes the collective mission of the two organizations to educate safety professionals and develop stronger leaders.” said Harold Sargus, Manager, Professional and Organization Development, Nebraska Business Development Center, UNO College of Business Administration. “We believe this is a one of a kind program that will build on the foundation and commitment to the safety of all individuals.”
