GroundMetrics innovations go beyond sensor systems

Pushing boundaries with new technology is particularly important in the energy industry which is core to the global economy but exposed to price fluctuations.

GroundMetrics Inc., a world-leading electromagnetic company and oil and gas technology pioneer, booked additional international core sensor and source system patents.

The company’s proprietary Downhole Casing Source system patent granted in Australia and is pending in other countries. Additionally, its capacitive eQube™ sensor system was granted patent protections in Mexico, with Russia and the US granting later this year. Previously, the company’s sensor and circuit technology earned patents in the US, France, Germany, the Netherlands, UK, Australia and Canada.

GroundMetrics uses its sensor systems to provide resistivity data to oil, gas, and mining clients. By taking resistivity images of entire fields, GroundMetrics’ technology gives new vision into what’s going on underground and allows operators to dramatically improve efficiency and optimize production. The new suite of patents makes GroundMetrics eligible for direct bid with a number of major oil companies, accelerating entry into the US and international markets, which have already demonstrated substantial demand.

GroundMetrics' innovations go beyond sensor and source systems and include data acquisition, processing and inversion methods. In addition to hardware and computational innovations, the company is pioneering new data science techniques and is working towards instrumenting entire oilfields.

“Pushing boundaries with new technology is particularly important in the energy industry which is core to the global economy but exposed to price fluctuations. If our patent pipeline fully grants as expected,” said Gayle Guy, IP Manager at GroundMetrics, “GroundMetrics will hold 12 patents in approximately 15 jurisdictions. As is the case with many emerging and fast-growth tech companies, innovation and patents are a key part of GroundMetrics’ growth strategy.”

“We believe the only way to succeed is to never stop improving our services or creating new and better tools for our customers.” said George Eiskamp, CEO, “We have been very strategic in regards to countries covered and in filing multiple patent applications that cover the most key art in different ways in order to maximize international coverage and strength of protection. Only a portion of our patent pipeline needs to grant for full protection.”

GroundMetrics Inc. is the world leader in surface-based resistivity sensing onshore. Its customers include oil and gas companies as well as government energy agencies. GroundMetrics uses its unique technology to eliminate blind spots underground, which increases production, improves efficiency and reduces wasted spending and capital expenditures.
