StartUp Health®, leading a global movement to transform health by organizing and investing in the world’s largest community of Healthcare Transformers™ today announced the first five Finnish companies selected to join the StartUp Health Academy. The newly selected companies - Brainshake, Buddy Healthcare, GoodLife Technology, HLD Health Life Devices, and LS CancerDiag - are the first group selected as part of StartUp Health Finland and will receive access to key US and global healthcare stakeholders and its global peer community.

StartUp Health Finland is the company’s first Regional Affiliate that connects directly into StartUp Health’s global platform and is focused on coaching and supporting the rapidly growing ecosystem of Finnish entrepreneurs. StartUp Health has the world’s largest digital health portfolio with 300 Healthcare Transformers from 147 companies representing a broad spectrum of digital health innovation.

As they work to navigate and grow their businesses, these entrepreneurs will have access to weekly and quarterly coaching focused on The Healthcare Transformer mindset and value creation, access to a powerful community and worldwide network of Healthcare Transformers and promotion through StartUp Health’s media network that reaches thousands of influencers to share important stories. All five Finnish companies, exclusively selected out of dozens of applications, were invited to co-locate at the Health Innovation Village at GE in Helsinki’s ‘Silicon’ Vallila district which also hosts regular programming and community events for digital health entrepreneurs.

The first group of companies and Healthcare Transformers™ selected to join StartUp Health include:

Teemu Suna is a Healthcare Transformer on a mission to enable preventive medicine in chronic diseases. Teemu Suna is the CEO and co-founder of Brainshake, a science-based blood testing company based in Helsinki, Finland, bringing extensive biological data to routine healthcare.

Jussi Määttä is a Healthcare Transformer on a mission automate patients’ surgery preparation and recovery procedures. Jussi Määttä is the founder of Buddy Healthcare, a care coordination and patient engagement company based in Helsinki, Finland, which developed the platform to transform pre and post surgery care.

Henrik Jürgens is a Healthcare Transformer on a mission to digitalize the consumer healthcare experience and bringing professional healthcare services into people’s pockets. Henrik Jürgens is the CEO of GoodLife Technology, a patient engagement company based in Kotka, Finland, which developed the PT Momentum app to transform care for physical therapy clients.

Kalle Palomäki is a Healthcare Transformer on a mission to provide a better way for clinicians to reduce swelling in trauma and surgery patients or patients who suffer from lymphedema. Kalle Palomäki is the CEO of HLD Health Life Devices, a medical device company based in Helsinki, Finland, which developed PhysioTouch (also know as LymphaTouch) working to transform patient care.

Tuomas Poskiparta is a Healthcare Transformer on a mission to provide a reliable functional test to diagnose a common cancer-causing condition, Lynch Syndrome, to enable preventive care. Tuomas Poskiparta is Director and Partner of LS CancerDiag LTD, a diagnostics company based in Helsinki, Finland, which is working to transform diagnosis for a variety of inherited cancers.
