We are confident about the future of Angola and we have been investing in emerging opportunities for some time. Financial assistance now with reasonable conditions can provide a feasible way to move forward and prosper in the future.

Angola Capital Investments (ACI) announced today that its CEO Zandre Campos was featured in the Huffington Post with his insight regarding a proposed program between the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the government of Angola. The article entitled “Why IMF Funding Will be Good for Angola” was originally published on The Huffington Post on May 24, 2016.

The article looks at potential benefits of an agreement between the IMF and Angola, over a three-year extended loan program. “IMF funding will compel Angola to demonstrate real progress,” Mr. Campos said.

“Angola can attract new investment as investors see greater financial transparency, which the government has pledged, and the economy grows.”

Many news stories have called the IMF funding a “bailout” designed to curtail the impact of the steep drop in oil prices on the Angolan economy. Angola, which produces some 1.6 million barrels a day, is Africa’s second-largest oil producer. As a result, Angola relies on the oil industry for about 95% of export income and 52% of government revenues.

The IMF financing, known as the Extended Fund Facility program, could be as high as $1.5 billion annually with a cumulative total of about $4.5 billion. The Angolan government has recognized a need and has committed to diversifying the economy. The IMF assistance will help achieve this objective by supporting new possibilities in agriculture- Angola was once a net crop exporter - healthcare, technology, tourism and renewable energy.

“We are confident about the future of Angola and we have been investing in emerging opportunities for some time,” added Mr. Campos. “Financial assistance now with reasonable conditions can provide a feasible way to move forward and prosper in the future.”

Zandre Campos is the chairman and CEO of Angola Capital Investments, a leading international investment firm in Angola. ACI invests in companies in the energy, transportation, hospitality, healthcare, technology and real estate sectors.
