Des Moines, IA (PRWEB) May 27, 2016
Mediacom Business, a division of Mediacom Communications Corporation, is pleased to announce that it will once again serve as the official provider of data, voice and video services during the Principal Charity Classic presented by Wells Fargo, the annual PGA TOUR Champions event held at historic Wakonda Club in Des Moines. The 2016 tournament will take place May 31-June 5.
This year, Principal® is celebrating the 10th Anniversary of its title sponsorship of the tournament, which is focused on raising funds for Iowa children’s charities. The event has raised more than $7.7 million for charity in the past nine years, with a record 77,000+ fans in attendance at the 2015 tournament.
Dan Templin, SVP of Mediacom Business, said the Company’s Gigabit+ Fiber Solutions™ are key operational systems for the event: “The Principal Charity Classic is a 15-year customer, and just as the tournament has continued to grow in size and scope, so have its needs for advanced broadband.”
Mediacom Business has installed three miles of fiber optic cable to connect Wakonda Club and to support the needs of the PGA TOUR Champions, news media outlets, player-participants and spectators.
“We’ll power the official Principal Charity Classic media center so all news outlets can simultaneously file stories and live updates, including the uploading of both video and pictures,” Templin said. “Our services will also be utilized by an on-site Weather Channel meteorologist to provide critical weather updates to tournament officials
“Players and spectators will enjoy courtesy feeds of 24 high-definition programming channels, including the Golf Channel and live scoring scrolls, which will run on 150 televisions placed around the course, in the sky boxes, and throughout the clubhouse and Champions Club. And of course we’ll provide all attendees with wireless broadband to connect their mobile devices.”
Principal Charity Classic Tournament Director Greg Conrad said Mediacom Business plays a critical role in the event’s success.
“The ability to provide live-scoring and real-time information is critical to our event, and reliable connections are a must for news media and spectators alike,” Conrad said. “Mediacom Business has a long history working with us, and we appreciate their excellent customer care and attention to detail. We’re glad to have them on board again this year as the Principal Charity Classic’s official provider of broadband services.”
