Columbus AC Repairs company, Paramount Air, recently released a four-part series on air conditioning and tips for homeowners preparing for the summer. In each blog post, the Columbus AC service company addresses the history of air conditioning, the technology behind it, and maintenance plans. The series is intended to educate consumers on air conditioning to help better prepare for the hot months without any surprise issues.

President and owner of the Columbus heating and cooling company Bill Brown comments, “We see a lot of homeowners dealing with broken air conditioners during the hottest months of summer. A well oiled system demands maintenance and now is the best time of year to make sure everything is working correctly and up to code so that when the heat strikes, homeowners can relax and enjoy the cool air. There’s nothing worse than a broken air conditioner during a heat wave. It sets everyone back.”

Brown adds, “We wrote this series to encourage people to act now before it gets hot. Plus, it can cost more for a repair than it does for simple maintenance.”

Three primary tips are shared in the series of articles:

Change out air filters. This is the most important maintenance task that ensures the air conditioner is running efficiently. Dirty, clogged filters will block normal airflow.

Clean the air conditioner coils. Dirty, dingy air conditioner coils also reduce airflow and self-insulate. This reduces the coil’s ability to absorb heat.

Unclog the air conditioner drain. It is important to pass a stiff wire through the drain on occasion to prevent the unit from dispensing excess moisture.

The Columbus heating and cooling company suggests calling an air conditioner technician to check all parts of the system, ensuring comfort won’t be interrupted by a breakdown.
