Summit Racing Supports California Bill to Exempt Pre-1981 Vehicles from Emissions Inspections
Tallmadge, OH (PRWEB) June 01, 2016 -- Senate Bill 1239 was recently approved by California’s Senate Appropriations Committee and now moves towards full Senate review. The bill contains amended legislation concerning California vehicle emissions testing.
If approved, the bill would mean motor vehicles made prior to the 1981 model year would be exempt from California’s mandated emissions inspections. Under current laws, only vehicles made before the 1976 model year are exempt from such inspections. The relaxed restrictions would allow more owners of vintage automobiles to register and drive their vehicles.
Summit Racing belongs to the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), which has embraced the proposed legislation. SEMA encourages automotive enthusiasts living in California to notify their lawmakers for further support.
