Holiday Adoption Program by Zappos® and Best Friends Animal Society® Receives Cause Marketing Halo Award As a Top 2015 Campaign

Animal shelters that were overflowing were completely emptied out. All told, more than 6,200 dogs and cats went to permenant, loving homes.

Zappos and Best Friends Animal Society were honored with a Gold Cause Marketing Halo Award in the Best Environmental/Animal Category at the 14th Annual Cause Marketing Forum Conference on June 2 in Chicago. A total of 20 awards were given out to programs judged to be the best at doing well by doing good in 2015.

From Black Friday through Cyber Monday 2015, online retailer picked up the adoption fee tab for all Best Friends dogs and cats, as well as those at more than 150 of Best Friends’ No More Homeless Pet® Network partners across the country. That meant that for four days people could adopt a new pet in time for the holidays at no cost to them.

“We were hoping for a good response but the success was beyond our dreams, animal shelters that were overflowing were completely emptied out because everyone got adopted. All told, more than 6,200 dogs and cats went to permenant, loving homes,” said Julie Castle, chief development and marketing officer for Best Friends Animal Society. “It was a three-hankie weekend for us as the happy reports kept flowing in from all over the country. The weekend brought our call to action statement to life, I know that within our lifetime we will Save Them All.”

"We congratulate Best Friends Animal Society on its efforts to do well by doing good," said Cause Marketing Forum President David Hessekiel. Over one hundred programs were entered in this year’s Cause Marketing Halo Award competition.

“Gone are the days when adding a charitable angle to a consumer- or employee facing initiative was new and novel,” said Hessekiel. “Best Friends Animal Society is being recognized for going beyond the basics to offer a unique partnership able to draw attention and engagement.”
