The Daniel Island Company and Property Owners' Association have made access to Daniel Island's more than 25 miles of walking, running and biking trails easier to access than ever before. New trail markers and a corresponding GPS-based mobile app make it easy and fun for residents and visitors in Charleston’s island town to explore and get fit.

The DITRAILS mobile app helps users explore Daniel Island's 25 miles of trails.

Trails are the number one amenity in our community and they’re used in a variety of different ways…There are endless ways to explore, and the markers and the app make it easy to take advantage of this great island resource.

The more than 25 miles of walking, running and biking trails on Daniel Island meander through parks and the island’s downtown, over marsh and tidal creeks and along the Wando River, offering beautiful Lowcountry views along the way and providing endless opportunities for fitness and fun. Now, new easy-to-follow trail markers and a corresponding mobile app, developed by the Daniel Island Company and Daniel Island Property Owners’ Association, make it easy and fun for residents and visitors in Charleston’s island town to navigate and explore while getting fit on the island’s trails.

The DITRAILS app uses GPS to allow users to navigate a series of newly mapped and marked trail routes in real time, and makes it easy to switch between routes along the way. The trail loops range from under a mile to more than 2.5 miles and can be combined to create longer routes. Color-coded trail markers have been installed throughout the island, and the mobile app corresponds to the same marked routes. The app also offers workout playlists and links to helpful information about Daniel Island’s parks and trails.

“Trails are the number one amenity in our community and they’re used in a variety of different ways,” says Jane Baker, Vice President of Community Services for the Daniel Island Property Owners’ Association. “The great thing about these newly mapped trail loops is that they can be combined to create custom routes that are suitable for your own needs, whether it’s a 5-mile run, a walk with the family dog or a bike route for your kids to follow. There are endless ways to explore, and the markers and the app make it easy to take advantage of this great island resource.”

The DITRAILS app is free and can be downloaded in the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android). Visitors to Daniel Island who want to explore the trail system are advised to park at Governor’s Park on Seven Farms Drive or at the Daniel Island Real Estate Information Center at 101 River Landing Drive. The trail system can be easily accessed via either location.
