Though (USP 800) implementation is not until 2018, the standards are comprehensive and may require significant facility updates.

Accreditation University (AU), a division of Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC), will hold a USP 800 Compliance workshop at Canyon Gate Country Club in Las Vegas, NV on July 29, 2016. The workshop, hosted by Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board (PCAB), will give an overview of USP 800 and discuss practical steps for implementation. The one-day workshop will be instructed by leading industry expert ACHC Associate Director of Pharmacy – PCAB Division, Jon Pritchett, Pharm D.

AU is a division of ACHC that focuses resources within the organization to provide a full range of educational offerings that meet the individual needs of providers. As such, the USP 800 Compliance workshop offers guidance on the impact that USP 800 Hazardous Drug standards will have on pharmacies. USP 800 was recently approved, and all pharmacies should be in compliance by July, 1, 2018. This workshop will cover strategies to achieve USP 800 compliance, looks at relevant case studies, reviews proposed changes to USP 797, assists in the identification of hazardous drugs, and facilitates a mock root cause analysis.
