PD Learning Network and Badgr Partner to Provide Open Badges for Teacher Professional Development
Santa Barbara, CA (PRWEB) June 08, 2016 -- PD Learning Network (PDLN) is pleased to announce a new partnership with Badgr to issue and host its competency-based micro-credential badges for K-12 educators.
Badgr practices and advances openness and transferability of badges which ensures that teachers can show competency in any of the skills they acquire from PDLN courses. Educators create their own learning pathways as they work through PD Learning Network’s online video-based courses. After submitting evidence of competency to PDLN’s credentialed review team, course participants are awarded open badges. The badges certify skills mastery and can be displayed on résumés, social media, email signatures, or in digital portfolios.
“We’re excited to partner with a platform committed to open badges and our teacher-learners having ownership over how, when and where they share their accomplishments,” said PDLN vice president of professional learning Rich Dixon. “It’s critical that educators can share their unique competencies with other teachers, parents, administration, prospective employers, and others within their communities, at their own discretion and over time.”
“Portable micro-credentials for teacher professional development have the potential to connect educators to a growing range of opportunities, providing verifiable records of their learning and achievements,” noted Nate Otto, of Concentric Sky, makers of Badgr. “PDLN is at the core of a growing community using Open Badges to provide high quality experiences and competency development."
