ADLINK, Trend Micro and Intel Showcase High Performance DPI for NFV at Interop Tokyo 2016
SAN JOSE, CA (PRWEB) June 07, 2016 -- ADLINK Technology, Inc., a leading global provider of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and communications platforms, will join Trend Micro Incorporated and Intel in demonstrating high performance Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) technology for Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) in Intel’s Booth 6F04 at Interop Tokyo 2016 at Makuhari Messe convention center from June 8 - 10.
“NFV changes the way we treat networks and brings new possibilities and challenges,” said Dr. Terence Liu, vice president of the Network Threat Defense Technology Group at Trend Micro. “NFV enables fast and flexible network service delivery and reduces costs by adopting virtualization techniques and making VNF run on top of standard servers, switches, and storage instead of custom hardware appliances. We will be able to protect more users and more devices in the IoT era with our security VNF in service provider networks.”
Trend Micro’s innovative DPI technology has been widely adopted in a variety of network security products, ranging from home routers to enterprise-facing Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) and Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW) and provides comprehensive network security and management functions such as parental control and malware detection. By leveraging Intel® Data Plane Development Kit (Intel® DPDK) technology, Trend Micro’s DPI is designed as pure software architecture and achieves tens of Gigabits per second in virtualization infrastructure, making it a reliable fit for NFV environments.
Trend Micro will demonstrate DPI as a virtualized network function running on top of ADLINK’s CSA-7200 network appliance supporting Intel® DPDK. The CSA-7200 is based on the Intel® Xeon® E5 2600 v3 workstation platform and offers a highly scalable design in a compact 2U rackmount form factor for packet inspection, firewall, load balancer, network monitoring, security gateway and voice gateway applications. With eight NIM (Network Interface Module) slots and five 2.5’’ HDD drive bays, the CSA-7200 offers extended configuration possibilities for the network security market and is ADLINK’s initial network appliance built using the company’s Modular Industrial Cloud Architecture, which enables fast reconfiguration and reduces time-to-market for new applications.
“ADLINK intends to build a versatile industry ecosystem based on our Modular Industrial Cloud Architecture, which is the next generation of cloud computing technology, optimizing performance, cost and space for COTS platforms,” said Yong Luo, general manager of ADLINK's Embedded Computing Product Segment. “We hope to establish a foundation for industrial cloud computing and collaborate and innovate with more industry partners like Trend Micro.”
