Industrial Brake Manufacturer Chooses Clean Air America, Inc. for Filtration Solutions
Rome, GA (PRWEB) June 09, 2016 -- Recently, Clean Air America, Inc. was approached by a global chassis systems supplier for assistance with air filtration needs during multiple facility expansions. The customer required engineered solutions for mist collection to protect workers within the manufacturing plants.
The customer requested a mist collection system that would withstand continuous production of aluminum and cast iron parts without downtime. Several vendors were considered in the initial evaluation, and those systems included units that required manual maintenance, offline draining, and frequent filter changes. These factors did not meet the operational requirements, and the customer sought out an alternative to better suit their needs.
Engineers at Clean Air America, Inc. prepared a proposal for a system that was capable of ventilating several machines simultaneously. It was required that the unit be mounted on a custom fabricated mezzanine, serviceable, and with maximum filter life. The plant objective was to maintain an air quality that met an oil mist standard well below 1.0 mg/m3, one to three year filter life, maintain airflow throughout operation, and online draining for coolant reclamation.
The customer selected the Clean Air America, Inc. ZeroMist stacked coalescing fiber bed filter system as their solution to coolant mist from 22 CNC machining centers. The engineered, turn-key systems include central ZeroMist Model OM-7200 units providing 7,200CFM each with coalescing first stage fiber bed filters, coalescing second stage fiber bed filters, HEPA safety filters, pressure gauges for each filter stage, and 20HP TEFC energy efficient direct drive motors in each unit. VFD controls provide additional energy savings and are programmed for slow accelerated start & stops, pressure drop adjustments, and are mated with a pressure sensor.
Additional provisions include an automatic pump back system with motor, float controls, and holding tank for reclaimed coolant. The custom unit coordinates with the customer’s mezzanine for adequate service access and minimizes taking up valuable production floor space. The ductwork design falls within accordance with SMACNA and ACGIH standards to a tapered, balanced, and liquid-tight design with a slight slope to allow for drainage back into the mist collector inlet plenum during shut-down. Clean Air America provided the turn-key installation at both plants.
Clean Air’s engineered solutions have yielded a fully automated mist collection system that helps reduce energy costs, provide extended filter life (averaging 3+ years), continuous draining capabilities, and maintained airflow throughout operation to maintain a negative pressure in each CNC machining center, and equally important compliance for current & future oil mist regulations. Recent upgrades bring a total of 13 Clean Air systems for more than 75 CNC machining centers.
