Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP has added prominent real estate attorney Edward S. Hershfield as a shareholder in the firm’s Boston office. With over 25 years of experience, Hershfield represents clients in all aspects of complex real estate transactions, including acquisitions, financings, restructurings, zoning and land use matters, development and permitting processes, architectural and construction contracts, workouts, and dispositions. His clients include national real estate developers, pension fund advisors, hedge funds, architectural firms, publicly traded corporations, national banks, and other institutional lenders.

Hershfield served as the principal outside counsel to the developer of the largest mixed-use project in the Greater Boston Area: the transformation of a 1,400-acre former military base into a residential, commercial, and recreational mixed use community. He also works with clients developing multifamily sale and rental projects, downtown and suburban biotech projects, and commercial office campuses and towers. His experience in these matters covers the entire scope of the project, from acquisition, to permitting, design, construction, financing, and leasing or sale.
