Teacher Created Materials Receives REVERE Award for Teaching through Text Sets: Adaptation
Huntington Beach, CA (PRWEB) June 09, 2016 -- Teacher Created Materials was proud to once again stand in the awards spotlight by accepting the sought-after 2016 AAP REVERE Award for Teaching through Text Sets: Adaptation. Attending the annual Association of American Publishers (AAP) event held in Philadelphia on June 8th, Teacher Created Materials’ (TCM) Teaching through Text Sets: Adaptation was honored in the Classroom Supplementary Resources, Interdisciplinary Resources category.
“We realize the importance of developing resources that help teachers and students succeed in the classroom. This recognition by AAP confirms our commitment to teaching and learning,” commented TCM President, Corinne Burton. “It is our vision to ‘create a world in which children love to learn’ and receiving this REVERE award demonstrates the essence of this goal.”
Teaching through Text Sets: Adaptation is part of an ever-growing series for grades 1 through 8, designed to provide students with engaging opportunities to activate and build science content knowledge, analyze the craft and structure of literary and informational text, and integrate ideas with scientific knowledge. The Teaching through Text Sets series guides students toward college and career readiness with authentic fiction and nonfiction texts in multiple genres and modalities to provide a staircase of complexity. Texts in Adaptation focus on animal adaptations, capturing students’ interest through complex texts such as Reader’s Theater Scripts and primary sources. Teachers can assess not only the content-area knowledge gained by students, but also their ability to make intertextual connections and confront multiple perspectives. In addition to a read-aloud introductory text, an anchor text, and supporting and extension texts, each kit includes a teacher’s guide, digital resources, and assessments.
