Gustavo “Gus” Pego, PE, joined HNTB Corporation as South Florida office leader and vice president. Pego brings more than 37 years of experience serving the Florida Department of Transportation in a variety of roles, most recently as Secretary, District Six where he was responsible for leading and managing planning, development and implementation of a $3.5 billion, five-year transportation program. He is based in HNTB’s Miami office.
Pego oversees operations for the firm’s Miami and Fort Lauderdale offices, employing approximately 65 professionals. He provides leadership in planning, directing and implementing client relations, and oversees successful delivery of major projects in South Florida.

Pego has earned many local awards, including the Florida Institute of Consulting Engineers Partnership Award in 2015, the Florida Engineering Society Miami Chapter’s Outstanding Service to the Engineering Profession honor in 2015, and the American Society of Civil Engineers Florida Section’s Government Engineer of the Year award in 2014. He earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Florida.
