Paragon Software Group, a leader in data protection and embedded cross-platform file-access technology, today announced its exFAT and HFS+ solutions have been selected by AJA Video to expand the interoperability of the Ki Pro®Ultra, the company’s next generation file-based 4K/UltraHD and 2K/HD video recorder and player.

Now available as part of the Ki Pro Ultra v1.2 firmware upgrade for existing AJA Video customers, the Paragon offerings are also embedded in all new Ki Pro Ultra product shipments. As core components of Paragon’s Universal File System Driver (UFSD) product line, the exFAT and HFS+ solutions are being licensed by AJA Video to enable the use of Ki Pro Ultra media with Mac, PC or Linux systems.

“Paragon UFSD technology offers a powerful value-add to our product line, and will help us expand our market reach while addressing the varying compatibility demands of our Ki Pro Ultra customers,” said Nick Rashby, President, AJA Video Systems. “We take great pride in the engineering that stands behind our products, and Paragon upholds the same high quality standards.”

Featuring a built-in HD LCD monitor, the Ki Pro Ultra was introduced last November and is capable of capturing edit-ready 4K (4096 x 2160), UltraHD (3840 x 2160), 2K (2048 x 1080) and HD (1920 x 1080) Apple ProRes files. The new Ki Pro Ultra v1.2 firmware was announced at the NAB Conference in Las Vegas and is now available as a free download to AJA Video customers.

“The Ki Pro Ultra is the latest example of the innovation and quality that AJA Video brings to the professional broadcast, video and post-production markets,” said Tom Fedro, President, Paragon Software Group Corp. “All of us at Paragon are very proud to be a part of the technology stack for the Ki Pro Ultra, and we anticipate continued growth and success ahead with this product line.”

Paragon's cross-platform file access technology enables storage devices, network appliances, smartphones, tablets, set top boxes, multimedia players, routers, NAS and other hardware to communicate with storage media regardless of the chip set platform or operating system. As a result, consumers can stream multimedia content to network and entertainment devices or external storage for playback at a later time, on a device of their choosing.

Paragon’s UFSD technology provides rapid, transparent and full read/ write access to non-native file systems under Linux, Android, iOS, QNX and other platforms. Featuring a full portfolio of UFSD solutions, Paragon is focused on delivering powerful utilities that fully protect stored data while delivering high performance with no limits on file or volume size.
