Ocean Breeze Entertainment presents Asia Fest of Milwaukee, coming to Veterans Park, Milwaukee’s Lakefront, from June 17th to the 19th. The annual event will feature celebrations of over 15 different Asian countries with family-friendly activities, cultural performances, workshops, and plenty of Asian cuisine from local chefs.
“This event is all about celebrating Asian culture and showing the exciting diversity that’s a part of it,” said event organizer Rina Modak. “This family-friendly event is a great way to celebrate your own heritage or learn more about someone else’s.”
Festival goers can look forward to activities in the martial arts area, the open stage area, kite making workshop, Bubble Roller and other arts and crafts all three days of the event. Special events include the Opening Ceremony on Friday, an interactive performance on Saturday, and a Japanese Tyco drum performance on Sunday. There will also be a special “Speak From the Heart” activity to celebrate Father’s Day on Sunday.
This year’s event hopes to build on the success of last year, with more music, dancing, food and interactive experiences than before. There will also be vendors on hand with authentic food and merchandise on hand available for purchase. There will also be a free shuttle bus service available from the Discovery World area to the Festival.
Event organizers work closely with organizations and groups in Wisconsin and neighboring states to ensure each culture is accurately, fairly, and vividly represented at the event. Some of the Asian countries that will be represented at this year’s Asia Fest of Milwaukee will include China, South Korea, Japan, India, Pakistan, Philippines, and Thailand along with many others.
The festival will begin at 3pm on Friday with the opening ceremony taking place from 7-8:30 pm. Tickets are available starting at $7 for children and $10 for adult one day passes. 3-day weekend passes are also available. Discounted tickets are available in Pick ‘n Save and Metro Market stores at Greater Milwaukee area. Children under the age of 5 are free. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to the ALS Association Wisconsin Chapter.
