Lieberman, Costin, Peters add significant leadership to board of first of its kind comedic content app

Laugh.ly, the first and only streaming app built from the ground up for stand-up comedy, today announced the additions of former Comedy Central executive Larry Lieberman, former Pandora general counsel Delida Costin and former Warner Music Group executive Elliott Peters to the Board of Advisors.

Lieberman, Costin and Peters join Laugh.ly founder David T. Scott, a Silicon Valley veteran of Livefyre, Marketfish and Gigya; and Randy Adams, the noted co-founder of Funny Or Die, on the comedy streaming platform’s impressive board of advisors.

"Mobile consumption is perfect for comedy content and demand has never been higher. Now is the perfect time to launch a large-scale platform for comedy and the Laugh.ly management team is well qualified to succeed in their mission,” said Lieberman, formerly head of strategic planning for of Comedy Central and founder of social media innovator Dynamite Labs. “I am delighted to be joining the team.”

Free to use and available on iOS, Android and any web browser, when launched in mid-summer, Laugh.ly will include:

  • Tens of thousands of stand-up comedy routines from more than 400 leading comics including Kevin Hart, Amy Schumer, Hannibal Buress, George Carlin, Chris Rock and more;
  • The most extensive comedy libraries available accessed through direct distribution deals with the largest media publishers in comedy as well as direct relationships with A-list comedians;
  • First-of-its-kind self-publishing tools providing emerging comedians a platform to upload and publish comedy albums of their own;
  • An extensible technology built to offer a streaming experience unique for spoken word.

“I’m thrilled to join an exciting startup that brings a similar excitement and opportunity to alter the stand-up comedy landscape just as Pandora has for music,” said Costin, who served as general counsel at Pandora. She also was the general counsel of lynda.com and currently serves on the board of directors for the Oakland Symphony, writes a monthly column for Ms. JD, and serves as an adviser to a variety of early stage companies.

“Laugh.ly is the next evolution of media consumption and I’m excited to join a group of talented advisors,” said Peters. Peters has spent much of his career in entertainment, serving as head of digital legal affairs at Warner Music Group for more than a decade before working at Apple on iTunes country expansion and serving as a member of the executive team at Rdio.

While planned for a July 13 launch, early beta users can sign up at Laugh.ly. Users will initially have two primary listening options – commercially sponsored listening ad-supported or a premium service called “Front Row Seating” for $7.99 per month.
