Kona Coffee & Kona Blends Roaster Sweeps Coffee Fest Awards with TexaKona Krackle Coffee Brittle
McKinney, TX (PRWEB) June 16, 2016 -- Touting themselves as "Where Hula Meets Howdy," Pacific Tradewinds Coffee Co swept the awards at Coffee Fest Dallas with their Kona coffee brittle called TexaKona Krackle. One judge affirmed it is "addictive, just like your sign said it would be!" The shark-tank fashioned presentation is a show highlight.
"We specialize in Kona from our own Heavenly Hawaiian Farms and Kona blend coffees. It made sense to explore using our Kona as an ingredient in other items such as this coffee and mac nut brittle," said Elaine Krazer, COO of Pacific Tradewinds Coffee Co. The Dallas-area roaster has already made waves with their cold brewed and nitro coffees, and with their Kona Blends.
Roaster Dave, with his notable mustache, adds "since we focus on Kona, we are challenged with blends because our bean is a large screen typically--sometimes as big as 19 screen. We cup at 88 on the SCAA cupping scores and this means the bar is high for any bean that is blended with our Kona." Kona is known for its smoothness and aroma.
Working with family farms in Kenya, India and Honduras; TexaKona blends are carefully roasted, then blended and packaged at their Roastery and Museum in the North Dallas area of McKinney, TX. Their own farm, Heavenly Hawaiian Farms has been managed by PTC VP of Production, David Bateman (Colonel, Retired) for more than 13 years.
"Our plant generates Kcups, custom gift sets, corporate gifts, wedding gifts, and coffee candies in addition to our great coffees both online to consumers and B2B sales too," said Roastery Manager, Patrick Tate. The group is adding 2 new blends, a new candy and Nespresso-compatible pods this year.
TexaKona Cold Brewed Coffee is served at Growler USA franchise locations nationwide and in regional stores such as Munzee Market who offers it as a Nitro. Dallas caterer, Hot Shots also offers TexaKona Cold Brewed Coffee & Nitro Shots. Hot coffee from TexaKona is served at national and regional shops such as Sweetie Pies by Karen. Other national accounts also serve as clients.
Tours of the farm and roastery are available. Call 214-778-5662 for information.
