The Dream Builders Project Donates $10,000 to Walking For Anthony
Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) June 15, 2016 -- The Dream Builders Project, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles, CA, donated over $10,000 at the Movement for Change: Hollywood Walk of Fame Event on June 11th, 2016. All proceeds from the event directly benefitted Walking for Anthony, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that is changing the recovery outcomes of spinal cord injuries, which is currently perceived as unchangeable. Mayer Dahan, founder of The Dream Builders Project, was motivated to give back after hearing the inspirational, impactful and personal messages from those affected by spinal cord injuries.
Walking for Anthony Foundation focuses on educating the community, supporting research, and offering financial grants to those affected by spinal cord injuries. Walking With Anthony was founded by Micki Purcell and her son, Anthony Purcell in 2011. They have raised over $1,000,000 for beneficiaries. The Dream Builders Project is proud to support this worthy cause that unfortunately affects too many people.
“We were incredibly moved by the stories that we heard,” says the founder of The Dream Builders Project, Mayer Dahan. “To hear firsthand, personal stories about how people's lives completely changed in one quick moment was moving. The chance for rehabilitation is possible, but the costs associated with rehabilitation and medical assistance are extremely high. To be a part of assisting one person to learn how to stand again is what makes this donation even more meaningful.”
Currently in the United States, there are 1.275 million spinal cord accidents each year. Because the costs of rehabilitation are not sufficiently covered by insurance companies, people with spinal cord injuries have a continual need for financial aid. Walking For Anthony is currently assisting over seventeen people get the treatment they deserve.
