New SAE International Presentation Explores the Use of Virtual Hardware ECUs in the Automotive Supply Chain
(PRWEB) June 16, 2016 -- SAE International offers a new webinar presentation that highlights the use of virtual ECUs in the automotive supply chain.
Sponsored by SYNOPSYS, “Accelerate Development of Powertrain ECUs with Virtual Hardware” will be held Tuesday, June 21 at 1 p.m. U.S. EDT.
Automotive powertrain ECUs are increasingly reliant on complex MCUs/SoCs with multicore architectures, complex programmable timers, such as Generic Timer Module (GTM) and communication protocols that integrate CAN-FD, FlexRay, and Ethernet. Beyond the hardware components, there is also greater reliance on embedded software to achieve the required fuel efficiency/emission standards and the need to satisfy safety standards, such as ISO 26262. The combination of complex hardware and software requires developers to face increasing architecture design, software development, and testing challenges. This 60-minute webinar will provide an overview of virtual hardware ECUs and how to integrate them into the automotive system development process to manage these challenges.
This webinar also will highlight how the use of virtual hardware ECUs makes it easier for the automotive supply chain to collaborate about the architecture design, accelerate hardware/software integration, and expand testing throughput and automation. Experiences from leading Tier 1 and OEM companies will be shared.
Learning objectives:
• Highlight trends in powertrain system software development from the hardware, software, system, and process perspective
• Provide an introduction to the concept of virtual hardware ECUs
• Explain the complexities of MCUs/SoCs and how they are impacting software development and test
• Discuss deployment use cases including architecture design, HW/SW integration, and system software testing, along with specific industry experiences
Presenter for the Webinar will be:
• Marc Serughetti, Director of Business Development, SYNOPSYS
