Going Over the Edge for Brain Cancer with ABC² and Hyatt Regency Crystal City
Crystal City, Virginia (PRWEB) June 20, 2016 -- ABC² (Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure) has partnered with the Hyatt Regency Crystal City to host Over the Edge for Brain Cancer – DC to bring one of the most unique fundraising challenges to the Washington, DC metro area. Participants raise money to rappel down the side of the Hyatt with the D.C. skyline serving as a backdrop, Sunday, September 18. No experience is necessary, just a drive to make a difference in curing this deadly disease.
“We work with a lot of patients, families and researchers who are all fearless,” said Max Wallace, CEO of ABC². “Over the Edge for Brain Cancer is a metaphor for that and for the bold and edgy research we help fund to speed new treatments for patients.”
The event will raise money for ABC², a venture philanthropy dedicated to speeding the discovery of a cure for brain cancer. It was founded by Dan and Stacey Case and Steve and Jean Case after Dan was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2001. Sadly, Dan lost his life to the disease.
“This event will provide participants with views of the Potomac and Washington, DC that they’ve never experienced before,” stated Derek Morrow, the Hyatt’s General Manager. “We wanted to bring visibility to this disease that desperately needs additional research dollars,” added Morrow. “Being able to raise awareness of the seriousness of brain cancer and the need for research funding while also allowing participants to experience a chance-of-a-lifetime challenging opportunity in rappelling off of the Hyatt, seemed like the optimal fundraiser.”
Participants will start at the top of the building and then rappel down to the third floor terrace of the Hyatt where they’ll enjoy music, food and friends. Each participant will also have a coach that supports them with the rappelling and fundraising.
