J&L Precision Casting recently entered into an agreement with ESI Group to upgrade J&L’s existing version of the casting simulation software ProCAST to ProCAST 2015.

“This upgrade will improve processing speed from 6 to 10 cores, and will increase our capacity for solidification modeling by 30-40%, allowing us to better serve our customers,” said Dan Brockington, Precision Cast Sales Manager.

ProCAST 2015 provides precision sand casting foundries such as J&L Precison Castings, the ability to quickly understand and fix casting defects caused by shrinkage, gas porosity, mis-runs, inclusions, and a variety of other defects linked to microstructure and mechanical evolution. ProCAST 2015 expands the scope of typical casting simulation to stress evaluation that predicts distortion, residual stress, hot tearing and cracking; addressing both the casting process and subsequent heat treatment.
