USA BMX Offers BMX Racing as Part of Olympic Day

Move, learn, discover

From May 31-June 30, communities across the United States will celebrate Olympic Day 2016 through educational programming and other activities. USA BMX and its participating tracks are offering a free day of BMX racing at participating BMX tracks around the United States in celebration of Olympic Day. You can login to to find a participating track near you.

Olympic Day, held annually on June 23, is celebrated by millions of people in more than 160 countries. Commemorating the birth of the modern Olympic Games in 1894, Olympic Day’s mission is to promote fitness, well-being, culture and education, while promoting the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect.  The Olympic Day pillars – move, learn and discover – are promoted in every corner of the globe.

USA BMX tracks run over 11,000 races annually and offer racing and instruction for children from as young as 2 years old.  Participants can start in the balance bike classes for riders 4 and under and racing starts at 5 & under and goes to 61 & older. With skill levels of novice, intermediate, and expert, riders will be racing others of similar age and skill level.   Olympic Day gives riders and families the opportunity to participate in the Olympic sport of BMX racing and practice the Olympic Day pillars of move, learn, and discover.

USA BMX has been the largest participant in Olympic Day in the United States since 2012. As a partner with the Partnership for a Healthier America, USA BMX will also be giving a free seven-day membership to first time participants taking part in Olympic Day. This will give participants an additional week to enjoy the BMX track.

Whether through BMX racing or other activities we hope that many will get active and embrace the Olympic Day pillars - move, learn and discover,  As our Olympic BMX athletes prepare for Rio and the upcoming Olympic games, we hope many will also discover the sport of BMX racing
