Agency awarded four additional PRSA Skyline Awards for Excellence

Walker Sands, a full-service public relations and digital marketing firm, took home five PRSA Skyline Awards, led by President Mike Santoro’s PR Professional of the Year Award on Thursday.

The Chicago chapter of PRSA honored Santoro as the public relations practitioner who best represented the industry in 2015. A committee of public relations professionals selected him for demonstrating outstanding leadership, innovation and creativity in managing the rapid growth of Walker Sands as well as developing and executing the Digital Ecosystem, the integrated approach to public relations and digital marketing unique to Walker Sands.

“Chicago is home to a number of incredible agencies and practitioners, and to have been singled out among them is incredible,” Santoro said. “Walker Sands has evolved dramatically over the past few years from a niche boutique agency into one of the biggest in Chicago. I love coming to work everyday to lead such a great agency.”

Walker Sands was also honored among Chicago’s most elite agencies for the following campaigns and programs:

●    CompTIA Cyber Secure: A Look at Employee Cybersecurity Habits in the Workplace won in the Media Relations, Business-to-Business category for the campaign that found that one in five people will plug an unmarked USB stick into their computer and secured 115 placements in two months.
●    The Wayin team also took home an award in Media Relations, Business-to-Business for their data-driven campaign based on current events to generate brand awareness and showcase the unique capabilities of the social intelligence platform, resulting in 500 million impressions and over 350 placements, four times the goal.
●    #ImAnEngineer was awarded in the External Website category for building a website for engineers to connect, collaborate and weigh in on the technologies shaping the next decade of innovation. In the first six months of the site, the team generated 155 original pieces of content and 13,500 average unique visitors per month.
●    Launching the Raspberry Pi 2 received an award in the Media Relations, Professional and/or Financial Services category for its three-phased approach to the product launch that boosted sales by 67 percent in the first half of 2015 and garnered 84 placements in a single month.

Recognition at the PRSA Skyline Gala follows a successful year in which the agency received several honors including inclusion in the top public relations agencies in Chicago by O’Dwyer’s, top digital marketing agencies by Clutch and top company cultures by Entrepreneur.

“We’re doing a lot of creative, lead-generating work for our clients and ourselves,” Santoro said. “From our Free Donuts study on internal communications earlier this month to the relaunch of our San Francisco office earlier this year, we’re pushing ourselves to experiment and innovate. The recognition within the industry is validation of our efforts.”
