SkySpark Now Validated on Dell Edge Gateway 5000 Series for IoT
San Jose, CA (PRWEB) June 21, 2016 -- SkyFoundry (http://www.skyfoundry.com), a leading developer of software that automatically analyzes building, energy and equipment data to identify issues, faults and opportunities for improved performance and operational savings, announced today at the IBcon 2016 Conference for Intelligent Buildings that SkyFoundry’s SkySpark® Automated Informatics™ software has been validated to run on the Dell Edge Gateway 5000 Series. The ability to run SkySpark® Automated Informatics™ software platform on edge devices provides a complete, distributed analytics solution that can address a wider range of applications than can be achieved by cloud-only data analytics approaches. This announcement and validation clearly demonstrates that SkyFoundry’s SkySpark® platform operates at all levels of the IoT architecture.
Data analytics creates value by detecting patterns that represent opportunities for improved performance and cost savings. These opportunities exist within every level of the data architecture. While cloud-based data analytics have received significant focus and provide a good solution for many applications, it is not practical or desirable to bring every piece of data from every device up to the cloud. IT and networking limitations, communications latency and reliability, wireless bandwidth costs and security concerns result in large numbers of applications that cannot be effectively addressed with analytics that are performed only in the cloud.
“Having SkySpark® Automated Informatics™ validated on the Dell Edge Gateway 5000 Series was an ideal opportunity to demonstrate the feasibility and value of implementing advanced data analytics at the edge,” said John Petze, Principal at SkyFoundry. He added, “The capability to run in small, low-cost edge devices has been an integral part of our software development strategy since day one.”
Today, comprehensive IoT device management strategies need to support data analytics performed at the edge, as well as in the cloud. SkyFoundry’s SkySpark® Automated Informatics™ unique distributed software architecture is enabling small, low-cost edge devices to run high-speed, and highly valuable and informative data analytics.
SkyFoundry's SkySpark® Automated Informatics™ software can be seen running on the Dell Edge Gateway at IBcon in the Controlco Booth# 1305. SkyFoundry is an exhibitor as well and can be seen in Booth# 609.
