Eriksen Translations Supports 2016 Swedish Midsummer Festival
Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) June 20, 2016 -- Eriksen Translations Inc. (http://www.eriksen.com), a leading provider of multilingual services in over 100 languages, is proud to announce that it will be one of the sponsors of this year’s Swedish Midsummer Festival, held June 24 in Battery Park City. Presented by Battery Park City Parks and co-hosted by the Consulate General of Sweden in New York, the annual festival draws approximately 7,000 people to lower Manhattan’s waterfront to celebrate the summer solstice with Swedish food, flower wreathes, live music, and dancing around the midsummer pole. Traditionally held in Robert F. Wagner Park, this year’s event has been expanded to include the adjoining Pier A Plaza.
Eriksen Translations has strong roots in Scandinavian language and culture. The company was founded by Vigdis Eriksen, a native of Norway who began her career as a Norwegian translator and launched Eriksen Translations in 1986, specializing in the Scandinavian languages. The company has since increased its languages while steadily expanding to help clients across the globe. While Eriksen now offers comprehensive multilingual services in more than 100 languages, the company still embraces its Scandinavian roots each year at Midsummer.
“I am pleased to once again support New York’s Swedish community and the Midsummer Festival,” states Vigdis Eriksen, founder and CEO of Eriksen Translations. “The event provides a fantastic opportunity for New Yorkers to enjoy Swedish culture and tradition. We have been headquartered in Brooklyn for 30 years and always welcome the chance to support the city’s multicultural and multilingual communities.”
In addition to Eriksen, sponsors of the 2016 Midsummer Festival include Carlsberg, Volvo Cars, Handelsbanken, Patricia Industries, SEB, Skanska, Swedbank, Swedish Match, and SWEA New York. The program features traditional music by Paul Dahlin and fiddlers from the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis, folk dances with Barnklubben Elsa Rix, and dancing led by Scandinavian folklorist and singer Ross Sutter. Food stands will offer delicacies from New York's Swedish restaurants and food purveyors.
