SPI Is Dancing On The Boardwalk
Atlantic City, New Jersey (PRWEB) June 23, 2016 -- May 28th, 2016 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, was the kick-off of 2016 Memorial Day weekend, which is the celebration of our troops and the unofficial start of summer for most Americans. It was also the time when the Tropicana and SPI renewed their relationship for the 2016 summer. The Tropicana Atlantic City made sure that the 2016 holiday was just as memorable as the last for visitors to city’s boardwalk and to their casino gamers by teaming up with SPI once again to create a Multimedia Light & Sound Show displayed on their outdoor digital signage. SPI created six 15-minute segments totalling 90 minutes, designed as a DJ backdrop for the boardwalk event. The project was completed by three of SPI’s senior designers for fast a 48-hour turn-around time of completion.
The Tropicana’s outdoor digital screens feature a 66 foot high curved LED screen surrounded by ten 24 foot LED screens with spinning light cannons on top reaching far into the sky. Enhancing the overall experience is a connecting LED ribbon that weaves among the columns and a 17 foot high continuous digital media architectural facade TROPICANA 1 that seamlessly integrates the high resolution video displays to create an immersive experience. The overall length of the screens spans 360 feet that’s the length of a football field!
This year the casino is interested in creating an immersive geometric experience accompanied by music. The animations create a modern ‘retro’ feel to them that incorporates a black negative background and bright mesmeric vibrant colors, something that is relatable to the younger generations. The colors chosen by SPI’s designers were yellows, reds, and oranges to illicit excitement and curiosity highlighted by the cooler blues setting. Colors that evoke movement and action by the viewers.
Last year in 2015, the Tropicana Atlantic City first unveiled their Multimedia Light & Sound Show that had been in the works for a long time with the help of Yesco's digital signs, CastNet’s media player, and SPI’s content creation. Specialized Productions (SPI), a video production agency focused on motion graphics and 3D animation, created dozens of multimedia light shows for Tropicana Entertainment’s Atlantic City location . In recent years, there has been a push by the city and the casinos to bring non-gaming patrons to the city and the city’s Atlantic Ocean seashore. Tropicana’s new multimedia light and sound show is part of a $50 million renovation funded by Tropicana along with the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority. In the spring of 2015, “(The) Tropicana unveiled its Multimedia Light and Sound Show on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. Specialized Productions was a great partner and provided consulting advice as well as audio and video content,” Norm Nealy, the Technical Services Manager for the Tropicana. The larger-than-life digital signage facade is a new look for the casino resort’s exterior that delivers a dynamic medium, immersing visitors with experiential show content while promoting the venue and generating advertising with branded media.
Tropicana knew they needed breathtaking content and synchronized multimedia shows on their new curved 4K digital signage pillars. One of the obstacles in accomplishing this task was to create enough continuous attention grabbing content so the shows would not repeat too often and get “played out”. The 4K LED canvas provides enough resolution to place all the video screens on one canvas when designing the content, meaning there would be no need to send an individualized feed to each specific screen on the enormous video canvas. “Their team members managed urgent last-minute requests with grace. Specialized Productions continues to playa key role in the light show, and we are proud of the results,” said Norm Nealy. SPI created the immersive experience for the beach and boardwalk patrons by grabbing the attention of the walkers and sunbathers during the day and stunning the large crowds at night with eye-popping motion graphic video content. Specialized Productions created a variety of hourly shows including boardwalk DJ’s, music videos, logo animations, countdown timers, daytime screensavers, patriotic holiday animations and more. There were boardwalk DJ’s talking to the crowds of people and enticing them to dance with a mix of house music. The daytime screensavers focused on an array tropical and colorful video footage including ocean waves, palm trees, waterfalls, underwater aquariums and hot air balloons. In the evening, 3D music videos were created and played specifically for the screens as an attraction for the people on the boardwalk. The motion graphics filled the visual landscape with the engaging content and the air was filled with summertime music. The Tropicana was successful in creating a mesmerizing effect on non-gaming patrons of Atlantic City.
Today, the Tropicana is not confined to their gaming floor for customers and patrons to receive their message and experience their Multimedia Light and Sound Show that SPI continues to
produce and create videos.
