New Zealand Artist Ivan Clarke and Intelligent Brand Extension Debut Bestselling Art Brand Lonely Dog at Global Licensing Expo
Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) June 21, 2016 -- Acclaimed New Zealand artist Ivan Clarke today introduced his Lonely Dog character brand to the global licensing community at the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas, June 21-23. Exhibiting brilliant storytelling and a style that celebrates the nostalgia and vibe of the 50s, Lonely Dog is an art-based property that brings to life a vibrant fantasy world and its beloved central character. More than 200 works of art feature the Lonely Dog brand and the whimsical world of Alveridgea, a place that calls to mind glory days gone by.
“Ivan is one of those rare dreamers who can turn the dreams in his head into exceptionally rich and wonderful ideas to further expand the special world he has created,” said Sir Richard Taylor, founder of Academy Award-winning Weta Workshop, the design and effects company behind films such as “Avatar”, and “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” trilogies. “Lonely Dog’s cast of characters touches a spot in our hearts reserved for man’s best friend. Ivan has taken us to another place of better times-- through his artworks we visit another universe.”
Over the past 10 years, Lonely Dog’s art collection has generated more than $25 million in sales, with 7,000 giclee prints, drawings, sculptures, and collectors’ books sold to enthusiasts in the U.S. and around the world. Ivan’s novel “Alveridgea and the Legend of the Lonely Dog” sold out its first run and is now awaiting a second printing by Atlantic Books in the UK. The award-winning, hand-crafted, collectible edition of the book has sold for over $60,000 apiece. In addition, a script treatment for a movie franchise is in development. Most noteworthy is the fact that during all this time, Clarke has kept the collection of original art intact, with the exception of charitable gifts.
“While a professional landscape painter, I created Lonely Dog almost by accident,” explains Clarke. “I told my kids a whopper tale about what our pooch would do in our absence as we left for vacation without him. The first painting, done perhaps as a nod to Van Gogh’s ‘Starry Night,’ was based on that tale and depicts a dog in a stylish suit looking out to sea at a departing ferry.”
“Lonely Dog’s creative imagery and storytelling strikes a chord with anyone with an imagination,” said Tatiana J. Whytelord, founder and president of Intelligent Brand Extension. “We are thrilled to be working with Ivan Clarke and the Lonely Dog Brand and look forward to developing selective product licensing and collaborations particularly in publishing, entertainment, hospitality, apparel, home, games and accessories.”
Clarke will be present at booth H80 at the Licensing Expo, where he will create original drawings daily at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Visitors to the booth can immerse themselves in the world of Lonely Dog, and some will have the opportunity to take a bit of the legend home with them.
“Lonely Dog is an unconventional character brand which appeals to a primarily adult audience-- those that have been around the tracks and witnessed what life throws our way,” Clarke says. “Through my paintings I have discovered another world and the characters that live there. The segregated cultures of Houndside and Catside, in this little port town by the sea, have now become part of my everyday imagination. I’m committed to unfolding this world for everyone to see, because when you’ve been to Alveridgea you never want to come back.”
