CEO Lauds Charity After Family Experience

Encast (http://encast.co), a technology platform that increases charitable giving by companies and individuals, added its name to the long list of Austin companies that assist Ronald McDonald Charity House in association with Dell Children’s Hospital. Companies use Encast to empower their employees to make charitable donations of money and time to their personal causes of interest, and Encast CEO Leo Ramirez, Jr., immediately committed his young tech startup to helping the Ronald McDonald House after experiencing the compassion and caring of Dell Children’s Hospital.

“My daughter spent 28 days at Dell while being operated for Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC),” Ramirez explained. “She had a craniotomy to reduce seizures caused by benign growths. My wife and I were fortunate to live in driving distance to the hospital. But we immediately understood the importance of Ronald McDonald House for families coming from out of town. Our employees were very excited about being among Austin businesses helping out.”

Encast employees prepared breakfast for several families as their volunteer contribution. During the morning, they also met with families staying at RMHC, including a father, whose son was battling leukemia and another with a 20 year old daughter in day 6 of a medically induced coma after a car accident. Ramirez also talked with a family whose 21 year old son might also face a craniotomy to prevent further TSC seizures similar to his daughter’s.

“The experience was educational and inspiring,” said Maggie McCarthy, Client Success Manager at Encast. “You see families, what they are dealing with, and their courage, and it completely reaffirms our commitments to the work Encast is doing to provide tools for people to increase their charitable giving to organizations like Ronald McDonald House Charities.”

Ronald McDonald House Charities has been helping families for over 30 years. They support children and their families through their Ronald McDonald House, Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, Happy Wheels Carts and their Healing Heart program. With an array of volunteer opportunities and a flexible schedule, The Ronald McDonald Charity House simplifies volunteering. Get Involved - The Ronald McDonald Charity House
