Casa Capri Recovery Opens Women-Only Detox Amidst Nation’s Rx Drug Epidemic
ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. (PRWEB) June 22, 2016 -- Casa Capri Recovery has announced the opening of a subacute women-only detox, a safe and nurturing environment to begin the addiction healing process. The detoxification facility is a new addition to Casa Capri’s existing Orange County residences for extended care treatment.
“We are thrilled to offer an all-female detox in Orange County that allows women a safe environment to begin their recovery journey,” said Melissa Goodmon, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Casa Capri. “Though just six beds, we sought to expand our services specifically to help people affected by our country’s exploding drug epidemic, especially those abusing prescription drugs.”
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse(NIDA), prescription drug abuse is increasingly rampant and dangerous. In 2014, more than 1,700 young adults died from prescription drug (opioid) overdoses, more than died from overdoses of any other drug, including heroin and cocaine combined. That’s nearly five people every day. In addition, 12 percent of 18- to 25- year-olds, and 5 percent of persons age 26 or older, used prescription drugs non-medically in the past year. And among young adults, for every death due to prescription drug overdose, there were 22 treatment admissions and 119 emergency room visits.
“It is our hope to affect positive change for our community, to help those desperately struggling with the disease of addiction to any substance,” said Goodmon. “They deserve a chance at recovery, and detox is the first step.”
The new facility will provide nursing care, physician examination and consultation, medication management of withdrawal symptoms, and the creation of a multi-disciplinary, continuing care treatment plan.
