Brides with broken engagements can now sell their wedding dress and receive healing words of wisdom and support from a business owner who’s been there at Le Dress Boutique in Atlanta.

When a wedding is called off, tears can be the first step in the healing process for most brides. Looking at their wedding dress, the most important symbol of what would have been their happiest day, can also be very painful. But at Le Dress Boutique, brides can consign and sell their wedding gown and receive advice and an inspirational pep talk from owner Linda Hammill, who knows the pain of a broken engagement first-hand.

“Bouncing back from a broken engagement is heart-wrenching,” Hammill says. “At Le Dress Boutique, our goal is to provide a way to move on by selling the wedding gown as well as ensuring the bride gets the support and care she deserves.”

Breaking off her engagement is what Hammill calls, “the most important lesson in my life.” After some reflection, she learned that she could not have a successful relationship with someone who was fundamentally different. Purging the wedding dress helped her move on.

When the financial crisis hit, and her 22-year mortgage career ended, she opened an Atlanta consignment boutique catering to special occasion dresses women only wear once. Hammill says from her personal experience and expertise in the wedding consignment industry, she holds a special place in her heart for brides who've experienced the pain of the “right dress, wrong guy.” Her shop, Le Dress Boutique, now consigns and sells new, sample and once-loved wedding and formal dresses.

Hammill gives each customer her undivided attention and support when talking about each bride’s experience. She promises each bride that their beautiful dress will go on to make another bride very happy. For some, that’s not the last time they’ll visit the store.

“Most brides who consign their bridal gown after a broken engagement return to buy a new dress within two years,” Hammill says.

About Le Dress Boutique:
Linda Hammill always toyed with the idea of starting a shop where women can consign their once-worn formalwear. When the mortgage crisis began in 2008, Hammill knew she needed to start a different path, trading in her mortgage expertise to consignment expertise. Today, Le Dress Boutique is one of Atlanta’s most well-known consignment shops, specializing in wedding gowns, prom dresses and other formal dresses.
