High Demand Expands Seating For Denver SOS Approach to Feeding Workshop
Denver, CO (PRWEB) June 28, 2016 -- Due to high interest, STAR Institute for Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) has expanded seating for the SOS Approach to Feeding Workshop taking place July 28-31, 2016 in Denver, Colorado. In addition to Dr. Kay Toomey and team delivering in-depth workshop content, STAR Institute is offering a unique opportunity for participants to tour the STAR Institute Treatment Center, complete with a reception and cocktail hour co-sponsored by Lime and Landscape Structures, Inc. A book signing with world-renowned sensory expert and founder Dr. Lucy Jane Miller will be included.
Kay A. Toomey, PhD, pediatric psychologist and Clinical Director of SOS Feeding Solutions at STAR Institute has worked with children who don’t eat for almost 30 years. She developed the highly effective SOS Approach to Feeding as a family-centered program to assess and treat children with feeding difficulties. Parents and caregivers of children who will not eat are faced with a difficult and often puzzling challenge. Weight gain and a child’s experience with food can be complicated and stressful. The SOS Approach is a transdisciplinary program that assesses the “whole” child and integrates posture, sensory, motor, behavioral, learning, medical, and nutritional factors to comprehensively evaluate and manage children with feeding and growth problems.
This upcoming, continuing education opportunity is of special interest to speech language pathologists, occupational therapists, special education teachers, psychologists, physical therapists, early intervention specialists, nurses, physicians, registered dietitians, nutritionists, and mental health professionals.
