Amgen Executive Rolf Hoffmann Joins UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School

Hoffmann, former senior vice president of U.S. commercial operations for Amgen, will join the faculty at UNC Kenan-Flagler.

Rolf K. Hoffmann, former senior vice president of U.S. commercial operations for Amgen, will join the faculty of the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School effective June 27.

Hoffmann will serve as adjunct professor of strategy and entrepreneurship at UNC Kenan-Flagler, with a focus on the school’s international efforts, leading classes and participating in initiatives overseas only.

“We are excited that Rolf will share his expertise in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries and considerable global experience with our community,” said Douglas A. Shackelford, dean and Meade H. Willis Distinguished Professor of Taxation at UNC Kenan-Flagler. “As an alumnus and a longtime member of our Board of Visitors, he has been actively involved in the School and understands our dedication to developing global leaders.”

Hoffmann received his MBA from UNC Kenan-Flagler in 1987. The School honored him with the Distinguished Alumni Award for Global Leadership in 2013 and the Distinguished Alumni Award for Healthcare Leadership in 2015.

Hoffmann has a wealth of international management experience gained over 25 years in the pharmaceutical industry. He previously served as senior vice president of Amgen Europe and went on to lead Amgen’s international commercial operations. Prior to Amgen he was chief executive of Lilly Deutschland GmbH global marketing and held positions as president, Latin America; general manager in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa; and numerous global and regional marketing assignments.
