Truck City of Gary, Inc. Proudly Celebrates 70 Years Doing Business in Gary
Gary, IN (PRWEB) June 29, 2016 -- Truck City of Gary, Inc. is proudly celebrating seventy years of business in 2016. Truck City is a third generation, family owned, Elite Support Certified, Freightliner & Western Star truck dealership located in Gary, Indiana. Founded in 1946 and currently at its third location on 25th Avenue, Truck City has been dedicated to Gary by providing jobs and promoting the local economy. Third generation owner, Gerri Davis-Parker, remains committed to the city of Gary and all of the dedicated employees at Truck City. “There is a rich history here in Gary, Indiana. We want to continue to cultivate the history my grandfather, Paul G. Davis, began back in 1946. Always appreciate the past while looking to the future.” says Davis-Parker.
Truck City’s roots began as Gary White Sales and Service located at the corner of 5th and Chase streets in the heart of Gary, Indiana. After outgrowing the first location in 1960, Gary White Sales and Service moved to a larger location on Chicago Avenue. In 1987 the name of the company was changed from Gary White Sales and Service to Truck City of Gary, Inc. to satisfy multiple truck manufacturers. Truck City’s continued growth at the Chicago Avenue location and the expansion of the Gary Airport in 2008, necessitated Truck City’s 3rd move to its current home on 25th Avenue overlooking the I-80/94 corridor.
The company’s service, parts and sales departments are comprised of committed employees, some with tenures reaching 40 years in duration. “I credit our longevity and continued success to the loyal, dedicated and amazing staff here at Truck City.” says Davis-Parker.
Recently re-certified as a DTNA (Daimler Trucks North America) Elite Support Certified dealer, Truck City is constantly seeking ways to continuously improve and bring the company to new levels. Always innovative, Truck City has formed a collaboration with a vocational program for high school students and adults. This vocational partnership program, the DTNA Elite Support program and steady technological advancements from DTNA keep Truck City on track and moving forward.
Although focused on the future, Truck City has never forgotten how far along it has come in the seventy years doing business in the city of Gary, Indiana. Truck City commemorated its 70th anniversary in a unique way with a two sided coin that encompasses the past and future of the company. The future side of the coin displays the Truck City logo with the Truck City name.
The past side of the coin is dedicated to the founder, Paul G. Davis, with his photo and the founding company name Gary White Sales and Service.
Truck City will proudly continue to move forward, grateful for the past and always embracing the future.
