New York, NY (PRWEB) July 05, 2016 -- Montparnasse 56 USA LLC, a member of the Montparnasse 56 Group (M56 Group), and developer and operator of world-class tourism sites in Europe and the USA, is pleased to announce is pleased to announce it has been awarded a United States Design Patent, No. D741977, for the TILT AMUSEMENT RIDE by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The design patent protects the design and visual character of M56 Group’s award-winning TILT experience. TILT is the only attraction of its kind in the world and can now be experienced at 360 CHICAGO Observation Deck on the 94th floor of the John Hancock Center.
A one-of-a-kind experience, TILT is an enclosed glass and steel moveable platform that in Chicago holds up to eight visitors per cycle. Once guests are safely situated inside, the platform tilts outward to a 30-degree angle, generating downward-facing views of Chicago from one thousand feet above The Magnificent Mile®. TILT gives thrill-seekers an exciting, safe way to take in unsurpassable views of the city, from a never-before-seen angle. With the newly awarded Patent, now only the M56 Group can provide riders with the amazing TILT experience, as the design cannot be copied with the permission of M56 USA. To further ensure quality in the US and internationally, and to protect this unique design, M56 USA is pursuing additional patent rights throughout the world.
“Adding this moving TILT thrill feature to one of the top attractions in Chicago is a key achievement for our team and partners,” says Patrick Abisseror, CEO of the M56 Group. “This patent is a significant recognition of the thousands of hours our team poured over the vision, design and final construction of an exciting modification to an already iconic building,” he adds.
“The TILT patent from the United States Patent Office is one more milestone for our company as we expand our footprint in the US. From our acquisition and redevelopment of 360 CHICAGO to the recent opening of the One Liberty Observation Deck in Center City Philadelphia, M56 USA is successfully bringing the M56 Group’s knowledge and know-how to the American tourism scene,” said Eric Deutsch, executive vice present and head of US operations for M56 USA.
Engineered by the expert team at Thornton Tomasetti, an award-winning engineering firm with offices in North America, Europe and Asia, this state-of-the-art, structural feat was developed without compromising the architectural integrity of one of Chicago’s most prominent buildings. Made from several layers of reinforced, shatter-resistant glass and precision fabricated steel, Thornton Tomasetti developed an innovative, safe way for adventurists to experience the observatory’s views.
“Thornton Tomasetti is excited that TILT has reached this design milestone. We are extremely proud that our collaboration with M56 USA has resulted in a verifiably unique structural design which is bringing a unique perspective to an iconic American skyscraper,” says John Peronto, vice president of Thornton Tomasetti, who along with Robert Sinn, principal at Thornton Tomasetti, invented the patented design.
TILT is located in 360 CHICAGO’s south end, at 875 N. Michigan Avenue in Chicago. In the past year, 360 CHICAGO has completed an entirely new experience for visitors. TILT has been enhanced with LED lighting, and new sound and motion profiles which complement a complete and extensive renovation to the concourse and stunning observation deck.
“We have received extremely positive response from those experiencing TILT and its newest enhancements, and as we are planning an exciting celebration and reward for the individual who is lucky enough to be our 360,000th TILT guest,” says Nichole Williamson, general manager of 360 CHICAGO.
