Prescription Discount Program Alabama Saves Alabama Residents $34 Million

The free Coast2CoastRx discount program and The Association of County Commissions of Alabama (ACCA) and have saved Alabama residents $34,000,000 on medical prescriptions with the Coast2CoastRx County Card.

The Association of County Commissions of Alabama (ACCA) and the free Coast2CoastRx discount program have saved Alabama residents $34,000,000 on medical prescriptions with the Coast2CoastRx County Card.

Mobile County has benefited the most from the program, saving its residents over $13,000,000. Jefferson County residents have saved over $3,000,000. The Coast2CoastRx program is currently implemented in 50 of Alabama’s 67 counties.

“Coast2CoastRx has been an invaluable resource for county leaders seeking to assist citizens who need assistance purchasing their prescriptions,” said Sonny Brasfield, Executive Director of ACCA. “This program has helped counties improve the quality of life for thousands of individuals and families across the state by providing them with affordable access to critical prescription drugs.”

The Coast2CoastRx card allows all Alabama residents – regardless of income, age, or health status – to participate in the program and save on the cost of medications. The program currently includes over 60,000 drugs in its formulary. In 2016, the program has saved cardholders throughout the nation an average of 60 percent on the cost of prescription drugs. The Coast2CoastRx card is distributed free of charge and may be used at all pharmacy chains and most independent pharmacies in Alabama. Any resident whose county isn’t in the program can print a card of a nearby county.
