St. Johns County School District Inspires Employees to be Active in Health with Marathon Health Onsite Centers
Burlington, Vermont (PRWEB) June 30, 2016 -- St. Johns County School District today opened the O’Connell Wellness Center, the third of three onsite wellness centers operated by Marathon Health for the school district. The centers provide health and wellness services to more than 7,100 employees, spouses and children in St. Augustine and Ponte Vedra, Florida. The Nease Wellness Center opened on May 18 and the Pedro Menendez Wellness Center opened on June 8. The wellness centers are staffed by three physicians, a nurse practitioner, two radiologic technologists and three medical assistants.
Marathon Health provides health management services, including primary care, acute care, health assessments, lifestyle coaching, and chronic condition coaching. The employer health centers operated by Marathon Health provide participants with a different way to think about health by offering the tools and support to help members take more responsibility for their own wellbeing and healthcare.
This model of onsite healthcare has been popular with school districts in Florida and nationwide because it is effective in reducing healthcare costs and aligns with a culture that values health. With the opening of three wellness centers, St. Johns County School District joins Marathon Health customers throughout the state, including Escambia County School District, Bay District Schools, and Brevard Public Schools. Marathon Health also provides healthcare services to many other forward-thinking school districts and universities across the country.
“Based on early feedback from employees who have used the centers, Marathon Health’s model of care has aligned well with our objectives and the centers will be a tremendous asset to the district and our employees,” said Superintendent Joseph Joyner.
Marathon Health Executive Vice President of Sales Jeff Shea said population health management works for employers because it addresses the root causes of poor health and helps people on a path to healthier, happier and more productive lives.
“Our clinicians build trust with patients and work with them to identify and accomplish their individual health goals,” Shea said. “We’re honored to partner with St. Johns to assist individuals on their journey to better health.”
