Michael Werner Elected Chairman of the Lymphoma Research Foundation Board of Directors
New York, NY (PRWEB) July 06, 2016 -- The Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) – the nation’s largest non-profit organization devoted exclusively to funding innovative lymphoma research and serving the lymphoma community through a comprehensive series of education programs, outreach initiatives and patient services – has elected Michael Werner of Chicago, Illinois as Chairman of its Board of Directors, effective July 1, 2016. Werner, a Board member since 2007, assumed his new duties from outgoing Chair Steven J. Prince.
“When I was diagnosed with lymphoma over ten years ago, I quickly learned that the LRF has been instrumental in funding the researchers who have positively changed the outcomes for so many patients,” said Werner. “Today, I am honored to take the next step in the journey to eradicate lymphoma, doing everything in my power to enhance the funding model and to advance the research paradigm.”
In addition to guiding the organization’s mission of eradicating lymphoma and serving those touched by this disease, Werner will be especially focused on further strengthening the Foundation’s Board of Directors and enhancing partnerships with the broader lymphoma and corporate communities, including venture capitalists, pharma, other non-profits and academic researchers.
“Throughout his tenure on the Foundation’s Board of Directors, Michael Werner has been a leader in advancing our mission,” said Meghan Gutierrez, LRF Chief Executive Officer. “His passion, insights, and leadership will be critical as the Foundation continues on the path of increased research investment, patient and medical education, and advocacy growth established by the tireless efforts of Steve Prince and the Lymphoma Research Foundation’s Board of Directors.”
Werner assumed the duties of Chair from Steve Prince of Purchase, NY at the conclusion of a highly successful four-year term. Prior to his retirement, Prince served former Chairman and CEO of Sempra Commodities, and served in the same capacity for its predecessor company, AIG Trading Corporation.
Michael Werner is the Founder and CEO of Chicago-based Home Experience, LLC, a digital and services company enhancing the home ownership experience. Werner is the former President and CEO of Globe Union Group, Inc., and is a long-standing Board Member of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.
