FlexJobs Announces Top 35 Companies Hiring for Part-Time Remote Jobs
Boulder, CO (PRWEB) July 12, 2016 -- Nearly one in five workers work part-time in the U.S. and part-time work is expected to rise to 40 percent by 2020. To help job seekers interested in finding part-time remote jobs, today FlexJobs released a list of the Top 35 Companies to Watch for Part-Time Remote Jobs. This list is based on an analysis of over 40,000 companies and their part-time telecommuting job posting histories in FlexJobs’ database during the first six months of 2016 (January 1 through June 30).
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the majority (62 percent) of part-time workers choose to work part-time or freelance, challenging the misconception that most people work part-time because they can't find full-time work. FlexJobs found that millennials, the largest generation in the workforce and vocal proponents of work flexibility, want to work part-time so they can spend quality time with loved ones (55 percent), pursue a creative passion (39 percent) and travel (38 percent). A recent survey by RecruitFi also found that individuals currently working full-time are increasingly likely to seek part-time work.
Part-time work is a very appealing flexible work arrangement for all types of groups, not just millennials, but also working parents, semi-retirees, and others, and there are growing opportunities for part-time work,” said Sara Sutton Fell, Founder and CEO of FlexJobs. “In fact, FlexJobs experienced a 31 percent increase in the number of remote part-time jobs posted in our database from 2014 to 2015, demonstrating this increased need from companies.”
Edmentum, About.com and Appen were the top three companies with the highest number of part-time remote jobs posted in the first half of 2016. Companies of all sizes and across a variety of industries hire part-time remote workers. Education, marketing and healthcare are top industries on this list, but others such as travel and technology are also included.
Common part-time remote job titles include teacher, writer, speech pathologist, coder, interpreter, editor, and customer service representative.
Many of the companies were also top employers for full-time remote-friendly jobs, having been included in FlexJobs’ 2016 Top 100 Companies for Remote Jobs.
