“We recognize the scheduling demands often placed on our busy candidates, and hope that this program will allow for greater convenience and eliminate logistical concerns for many of our candidates."

The Wound Certification Prep Course (WCPC), a comprehensive training program offered by HMP Communications, a subsidiary of HMP Communications Holdings, LLC, announced today it has partnered with the American Board of Wound Management (ABWM) to allow WCPC participants to take the Certified Wound Care Associate (CWCA®), Certified Wound Specialist (CWS®), or the Certified Wound Specialist Physician (CWSP®) exam immediately following courses in two cities for 2016, Kansas City, MO and Las Vegas, NV.

“ABWM is pleased to launch this pilot program in conjunction with the Wound Certification Prep Course,” said ABWM President Sue Dieter, RN, CWS. “We recognize the scheduling demands often placed on our busy candidates, and hope that this program will allow for greater convenience and eliminate logistical concerns for many of our candidates. ABWM will also continue to offer the exams year round in over 170 testing centers across the United States.”

Launched in 2004, WCPC prepares clinicians for wound certification board examinations, re-certification, or to gain a better understanding of wound care fundamentals. In the past ten years, the program has trained more than 5,000 clinicians. Taught by an interdisciplinary, team of nationally recognized ABWM Certified Wound Specialists, the course is recognized by the ABWM Foundation (ABWMF) as the “recommended review course” for clinicians planning to take the CWCA®, CWS®, or CWSP® board certification exam.

“WCPC is an important component of HMP’s portfolio of wound care educational offerings,” said Peter Norris, executive vice president, HMP Communications. “We’re dedicated to equipping health care providers with the very best wound care education to create a higher professional standard, and improve patient care.” Norris continued, “We are very pleased to pilot this program with the ABWM and look forward to helping more professionals achieve their certification.”

WCPC Kansas City will be held September 10-11, followed by the exam on September 12 and WCPC Las Vegas will be held October 5-6, followed by the exam on October 7. In addition to registering for the course, interested attendees must submit their completed exam application, payment, reference letters and all documentation to ABWM by August 19, to schedule their certification exam after the WCPC course in Kansas City or by September 16, to sit for the exam in Las Vegas.
