Teatulia Black Iced Tea Wins a North American Tea Championship Foodservice Category Award
Denver, CO (PRWEB) July 13, 2016 -- Teatulia Organic Teas’ Classic Black Iced Tea placed third in the foodservice category for black, unflavored/unsweetened iced teas in the North American Tea ChampionshipTM 2016 Iced Tea Competition.
“Classic Black is one of our most popular iced teas with foodservice customers ranging from university dining programs to fast-casual restaurant chains,” says Teatulia’s National Food Service Sales Manager, Dan Wright. “Which isn’t surprising, because it’s a highly drinkable, fresh, and satisfying iced tea. It’s a great addition to any menu offering healthy beverage choices.”
The North American Tea Championship (NATC) distinguishes the highest quality and best-tasting teas commercially available in the North American marketplace. The NATC Iced Tea Competition, judged by tea professionals and industry leaders, includes ready-to-drink, foodservice commercially brewed, and instant iced teas in 31 different categories. Every submission is evaluated blind by professional cuppers and rated on the following characteristics: body, flavor, color, and clarity. An overall numerical value on a 100‐point scale is calculated to determine the rank of the winning teas.
“Teatulia has a unique offering in the foodservice industry,” explains Teatulia’s Co-founder and CEO, Linda Appel Lipsius. “Customers are demanding healthy menu choices when dining out. They’re asking for organic options and sugar-free beverages, they’re choosing iced tea over soda, and they’re supporting brands that have sustainable business practices. Teatulia is helping foodservice companies meet all of those criteria with great-tasting tea.”
This is the ninth North American Tea Championship award Teatulia has been honored with since 2011. Other award winning teas in Teatulia’s product line include: Black Tea, Oolong Tea, White Tea, Earl Grey Tea, Hibiscus Iced Tea, Jasmine Green Tea, and Lemongrass Herbal Infusion (which has won twice!).
A complete list of the 2016 Iced Tea Class Champions is available at the North American Tea Championship website. All honorees will be featured at the Championship’s ‘Winners Tasting Circle’ at the World Tea Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada, June 13-17.
About Teatulia Organic Teas
Teatulia helps foodservice companies build profitable tea programs that fit into any existing work flow, at any price. Teatulia Organic Teas are available in multiple foodservice formats, including fresh-brewed iced teas, individually wrapped single-serve hot teas, or economical bulk tea bags. Teatulia also helps companies meet customer demand for healthy, organic, and sustainable menu choices. Teatulia sources its teas and herbs directly from their own USDA-certified organic garden in Northern Bangladesh and other like-minded gardens. The teas are cultivated using only natural farming methods, and garden-direct sourcing means the teas don’t sit in long-term warehouse storage or wait around to be blended by a third party. This results in great-tasting teas that are better for the land, its people and the environment. Started in 2000 to give back to the local community, the Teatulia Gardens were established as an enterprise that would give the people a living wage while protecting and strengthening the environment. The Teatulia cooperative, or the KS Foundation, was launched to provide a bright future for the Bangladeshi community. The cooperative has created innovative education, health, and cattle-lending programs for the people working in the garden and surrounding areas. All sales of Teatulia Organic Teas contribute to the cooperative’s mission, helping to better the lives of men, women and children in the community while rebuilding the local ecosystem. Teatulia is mindful of how its actions impact worldwide communities and actively supports ethical organizations like the Whole Planet Foundation, Rainforest Alliance, and B Corporation. Teatulia’s commitment to sustainability extends to its packaging, using stringless, tagless tea bags and 100% compostable, recyclable materials. Teatulia’s award-winning hot and iced teas can be found across the country at restaurants, colleges and universities, hotels, and specialty food and grocery stores. Teatulia is proud to be served at Dartmouth College, Yale University, and other fine institutions of higher learning. Teatulia is on the menu at fine-dining eateries like Linger and Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox, as well as at healthy, fast-casual restaurant chains like Garbanzo Fresh Mediterranean and Tokyo Joe’s.
