PowerSchool Streamlines Student Registration for Delaware Valley School District, Improving Efficiency and Accuracy of Data
Folsom, California (PRWEB) July 19, 2016 -- PowerSchool is helping Pennsylvania’s Delaware Valley School District go green by replacing its paper-based student registration process with an efficient online solution. The new solution improves accuracy of student data, business processes, and parent satisfaction. Families of the over 4,500-student district will have peace of mind knowing that vital student data will be available in the PowerSchool student information system (SIS) by the first day of school.
“We’re eliminating the paper chase to improve efficiency. Families can provide and verify student data online instead of filling out a 20-page packet per child. Implementing PowerSchool Registration will facilitate better communication for the entire school community,” said Dr. Gina Vitacco-Vives, Director of Curriculum and Technology at Delaware Valley School District.
The electronic format allows families who have more than one child in the district to ‘snap’ data from one student to another. SmartForm™ technology, an intuitive tool built into the solution, collects relevant data based on previously entered information or choices (grade, activities, medical history, etc.). The data submitted by families is reviewed, polished, and formatted to meet district policies and then delivered into the SIS, resulting in up-to-date records on the first day of school.
“The online solution streamlines a number of processes. Its robust functionality enables us to generate reports for different departments so that appropriate staff members have the data they need to accommodate our students,” notes Vitacco-Vives. The single sign-on feature allows families to access the registration form within their PowerSchool family portal without the need to create or log into a separate account. Families are able to electronically sign off on student handbooks, field trips, athletic forms, and more.
Vitacco-Vives adds, “We are thankfully anticipating a reduction in the amount of paperwork we disperse and amass, as well as a reduction in the amount of time that school staff and families spend on completing registration information, updating student information, and completing various school-related forms.” Online student registration for new students launched in mid-May. Families of students who are returning to the district this fall will be able to update student data in the new solution this August.
