Salva is a Mobile Child-Proof Tablet Creating a Safer Digital Space for Children
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) July 18, 2016 -- Salva, the revolutionary new child-proof tablet aiming to keep children safe online, is currently live on Kickstarter and raising funds to bring the project to life.
Internet crime is the fastest growing crime in U.S., and children are the fastest growing victim pool. Sextortion is a serious crime that occurs when someone threatens to distribute a person’s private and sensitive material if they don’t provide them images of a sexual nature, sexual favors, or money. In these cases, the perpetrator may also threaten to harm friends or relatives by using information they have obtained from electronic devices unless the victim comply with their demands. 71% of the victims are under the age of 18. 91% of the attacks on minors were through social media manipulation attacks and affected both boys and girls. This is just one example of the many dangers that coexist with children on the Internet.
Salva is a solution aiming to create safe spaces for children so they can still access the digital world while being protected from the harmful dangers and risks that exist. Salva is a mobile child-proof tablet that is managed and controlled via the company’s application. The proposed application can be pushed to any Android or iOS mobile device together with an option for the parental acquisition of a "child-proof" tablet to assure an always-on safe space - regardless of age. Configurations can be created to prevent the child from tampering with or removing the solution, locking it down and making Salva the most secure solution on the market.
"Our goal is to create safe and accessible digital environments for children and young people wherever they are; at home, at school, or in public facilities such as libraries or Internet cafés,” says founder and CEO Stephen Jones, “We acknowledge and enfold balance - All must be anchored in the best interests of children as a primary consideration while recognizing and embracing their evolving capacities and the technologies the next-gen world requires them to interact with.”
Salva is a 7 inch tablet powered by Android 5.1 and available in fun multi-colored options. Salva presents a 100% filtered Internet experience and advanced malware protection and prevention. It also includes a dynamic graphics inspection engine to enable realtime and dynamic pornographic image filtering on devices and legitimate websites. Salva also provides tone and sentiment analysis of chat and social media posts to help protect against cyberbullying.
The Salva project is in collaboration with IBM, as a part of the IBM Global Entrepreneurship program, in addition to Checkpoint Software and others that will provide the technological resources necessary to develop the platform and the infrastructure to support the Salva.
“We would not let our children open the door to a stranger unsupervised, therefore we simply should not allow our children unfiltered and unmonitored access to the internet,” adds Jones.
