Tarrytown, NY (PRWEB) July 25, 2016
Despite the constant discouraging headlines about America’s obesity statistics, there are individuals who are committed to bucking the trends. One such maverick named Travis Wilson comes out of Waterloo, Iowa, where he has lost over 180 pounds* in 12 months. He attributes much of his achievement to The Center for Medical Weight Loss of Iowa, located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Like many Americans, Travis found himself facing a lifelong battle of the bulge. He invested years attempting to lose weight using a variety of different weight loss approaches, but the weight always came back and continued to increase.
“With very few exceptions, you name the weight loss program, I’ve tried it,” said Travis. “While they tended to show results in the beginning stages, they didn’t provide me with a way to keep it off for good. As I tipped the scales at well over 500 pounds and my health deteriorated, I was in dire need of a program that would actually work.”
In June 2015 Travis learned about The Center for Medical Weight Loss of Iowa, from a few friends who had achieved impressive results with Dr. Stanley J. Mathew. He decided to check them out, and the rest is history.
“What’s great about the CMWL program is that it literally kick starts your weight loss into high gear. It’s a different kind of approach that took a little getting used to at first, but very quickly I felt this positive change take hold like I had never experienced before in all of my previous weight loss efforts.”
An underlying motivator of the program as described by Travis is that it progressively “just makes you feel better.”
“During the QuickStart initial phase where I experienced weight loss rapidly, I felt less sick and more energized. This made me want to keep going. During that phase, I started to learn how to adopt more positive behaviors, such as how to choose healthier foods and fit exercise into my day. I started to do those things and just felt better and better, and again, it made me want to continue in that direction. I haven’t stopped.”
Sam Yohannan, the Director of The Center for Medical Weight Loss of Iowa, says those behavioral counseling sessions were critical for Travis because they identified the root causes of his weight loss challenges, which enabled him to overcome them. “While cutting back on calories and increasing activity levels are of course important, the real change comes in finding daily motivation to stay the course. My own 138-pound weight loss inspired me to manage a CMWL practice, and I use the program myself to maintain my weight loss. We are thrilled with Travis’ achievements and couldn’t be prouder to be his partner in achieving a healthy weight.”
In addition to losing weight, Travis experienced other benefits, such as the elimination of certain medications for chronic conditions. And his wife joined him in the CMWL program, losing 100 pounds herself. In their commitment to improve their health through weight loss, they also experienced increased commitment to each other.
Travis’ advice to anyone who thinks they can’t lose weight for good?
“I am living proof, along with my wife, that healthy weight loss is possible in the long term. Doctor-driven weight loss absolutely works.”
