FireflySci Announces Improved Quartz Cell With Graded Seals
Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) July 20, 2016 -- FireflySci Inc. is a manufacturer of high-grade quartz and glass optics. Besides manufacturing they are innovators on quartz cell designs and are constantly striving to make their products easier to use. This new quartz cell line is a testament to the way that FFS is always giving scientists the tools they need to do their job.
In the past, a laboratory would need a specialized glass blower with years of experiment with working with quartz to modify any quartz cuvettes. Quartz is a difficult material to modify and quartz blowing is becoming a slowly dying art. In addition, there are expensive tools that are required for quartz blowing, making it not available for labs that are on a tight budget. What this means for a researcher who needs to add an attachment to a quartz cuvette, it would have been impossible without these new graded seal cuvettes from FireflySci.
What FFS has done is they have taken a standard 10 mm quartz cell and added a graded seal to the top. The graded seal is made up to two materials, quartz and pyrex glass. Where the tube is attached to the cuvette is made from 100% quartz material and gradually there is a mixture of quartz and glass. This is the graded seal portion which is near the quartz cuvette and at the open end of the tube is a 100% pyrex glass material.
This design offers labs an easy way to modify a standard 10 mm quartz cuvette. The reason this works is because pyrex glass becomes malleable with high temperatures and is ideal for bonding additions such as valves, stopcocks, glass pouches, funnels, etc. The melting point of pyrex is much lower than quartz and special tools are not required to work with a pyrex material. By adding these graded seal tubes to a simple quartz cell, FFS has made it possible for any lab to be able to easily modify their cuvettes to fit their experiments.
Another way FireflySci has made the graded seal tube easy to work with is by giving the glassblower plenty of space to work with. The graded seal tube cuvettes by FFS have 125 mm of pyrex tubing to work with. This gives glass blowers the power and flexibility to make mistakes and still have plenty of material left to work with.
The engineers at FFS are quite happy with this new line of quartz cells and they are having their production department work extra hard to mass produce these cells for immediate deliveries. Any lab who needs a quick solution to their custom experiments should contact FireflySci immediately.
