SpaceBound, Inc. welcomed first graders from Keystone Elementary school

On a sunny day approaching the end of the school year, five classes of first graders made their way to the main entrance of SpaceBound, Inc. to begin their tour of the facility.

Inside SpaceBound Headquarters in LaGrange, Ohio, southwest of Cleveland - the employees could hear the voices from the curious first graders walking around the building. The CEO and CIO lead five groups of first graders around the facility throughout the day. They toured everything from the conference room – getting to sit at the large table, to the offices, the company kitchen, the warehouse, shipping operations and many more areas.

It was all in an effort for local Keystone first graders to visit employers in Lagrange and learn about products and services. The test commute for the future workers was a short one, since it was just down the street from their school on Opportunity Way.

The employees mentioned how great it was to hear sounds of curious kids asking questions about what Spacebound does.

The CEO Patricia Miller and CIO Anthony Saliba explained that while SpaceBound may not build Rockets (a usual question from adults too) or have a future space mission planned (big in the tech sector: think Blue Origin, SpaceX, etc) – Ms. Miller mentioned to the children: “our mission is being a global supplier and service provider to businesses, schools, libraries, government agencies and retail shoppers.” To help the kids visualize some of the products SpaceBound sells – they were able to see firsthand the tech gadgets and more on the warehouse shelves.

As the children left, each child was given a useful gadget, a kid-sized combination night light/lantern to take with them. CEO Patricia Miller said: “we look forward to future visits from new first graders in 2017 and Keystone children from other grades too.” And, as the 2016-2017 school year approaches, Miller challenged businesses to get involved and take the time to feed a child’s imagination and curiosity.
