In a shake up of the status quo, GetApp’s rankings for task management apps saw Projectmanager.com leap from fifth place in Q2 to claim the top spot in Q3. The app fought off tough competition from Trello, Wrike, and Asana.
The aim of the Category Leader ranking is to help small businesses choose the piece of software that suits their business. The apps are scored based on five different criteria, all of which are marked out of 20, leading to a possible maximum score of 100.
These criteria include reviews from users, availability and rating of mobile apps, integrations, security information, and social media presence (using Twitter and Facebook followers and fans).
“There were two different factors that saw Projectmanager.com soar up the rankings: firstly an increase in its integrations score (17 to 19), and secondly a big jump in the number and rating of user reviews, which saw its score increase from 6 to 16. Trello was the users’ favorites, with a perfect 20 in user reviews, while its mobile app received the joint highest score, along with Wunderlist and Todoist. New entrant Easy Projects scored highest for security, with a maximum of 20 points,” says Suzie Blaszkiewicz, GetApp editor and researcher, and project manager of the rankings.
